It's YOU vs. YOU

Lay It Down

God speaks to us in so many different ways. One way He personally speaks to me is through music. I’m singing at church in 2 weeks and there is one particular song that has spoken to me for years now. But I’ve been putting it off, because I’m scared I’ll get emotional. When I’m going through tough times, He always sends this song my way. Reminding me it will all be okay and that He wants me to give Him my problems. It’s recorded by Jaci Velasquez, and it’s called “Lay it Down”.

We are all constantly struggling with issues in our lives. It may be a job situation or a job loss, a divorce, alcoholism, drugs, porn or sex addiction, eating disorders, adultry, abusing our own bodies, the list is ENDLESS! Our first instincts are to handle these situations alone, but that usually leaves us no better off and FEELING alone. It’s not bad when you fall short of reaching that top shelf to hand over the task to someone else and ask for help. That’s exactly what God wants us to do. Sometimes things are just out of our reach. We can stretch, grunt, jump, ask for a boost from our buddy, but even they can’t give us what we need. What we need is to give our problems to the ONLY one who can handle it, and that is God. He is a healer, comforter, best friend ( a forever loving best friend that always forgives no matter how bad you mess up). He wants to help us, but we have to give every bit of the situation to Him and trust Him with it. You will be amazed of the burden that is lifted from your chest and you can sit back and know that its all gonna be okay. ALSO, remember that His time is not OUR time. The answer may not come that second, but I promise, it’s gonna come if you just “lay it down”.

LAY IT DOWN (lyrics)

Verse:
I’ve been lookin’ till my eyes are tired of lookin’
Listenin’ till my ears are numb from listenin’
Prayin’ till my knees are sore from kneelin’ on the bedroom floor
I know that you know that my heart is achin’
I’m running out of tears and my will is breakin’
I don’t think that I can carry the burden of it anymore
All of my hopes and my dreams and my best laid plans,
Are slowly slippin’ through my folded hands

Chorus:
So I’m gonna lay it down
I’m gonna learn to trust You now
What else can I do
Everything I am depends on You
And if the sun don’t come back up
I know Your love would be enough
I’m gonna let it be, I’m gonna let it go,
I’m gonna lay it down.

Verse:
I’ve been walkin’ through this world like I’m barely livin’
Buried in the doubt of this hole I’ve been diggin’
But You’re pullin’ me out
I’m finally breathin’ in the open air
Oh, This room may be dark but I’m finally seein’
There’s a new ray of hope, and now I’m believin’
That the past is past, and the future’s beginning to look brighter now
Oh, cause all of my hopes and my dreams and my best laid plans
Are safe and secure when I place them in Your hands

Chorus:
So I’m gonna lay it down
I’m gonna learn to trust You now
Oh what more can I do,
Everything I am depends on You
And if the sun don’t come back up
You know Your love will be enough
I’ve gotta let it be, I’ve gotta let it go,
I’ve gotta lay it down
I’ve gotta lay it down
I’m gonna lay it down.
